At NYP/Lower Manhattan, Dr. Romney manages day-to-day operations, oversees operating and capital budgets, and implements clinical strategy. She joined NYP in 2018, and previously served as Vice President of Operations at NYP/Columbia, where she directed the administration of clinical departments. She also served as Vice Chair of Quality and Patient Safety at Columbia University Department of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Romney holds an undergraduate degree from Cornell University, a medical degree from Rutgers University Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Her children also attended University Settlement’s Park Slope North Early Childhood Center.

“We’re excited to welcome Marie to our Board, and grateful that she’s joining us,” said Melissa E. Aase, CEO of University Settlement. “Her clinical and operating experience in New York City’s healthcare sector will bring fresh perspectives to many of our agency’s top strategic priorities. We’re looking forward to relying on her counsel.”

“I’m delighted to join the Board of an institution that makes such a significant difference in the lives of my fellow New Yorkers,” said Dr. Romney. “University Settlement has long been one of the most innovative and forward-thinking agencies at the heart of our city’s safety net, and I look forward to supporting its teams as they continue to build community strength on the Lower East Side and in Brooklyn.”
