Dedicated to bringing the arts to people with cancer and chronic illnesses, as well as their families and medical staff, The Creative Center works in hospital, hospice, and community health sites throughout the New York metropolitan area.
Through our Art Workshop Program, we offer daily visual, literary, and performing arts workshops, free-of-charge, in-person and now virtually. Our Hospital Artist-in-Residence Program, active in more than twenty sites pre-COVID, now offers one-on-one arts instruction to patients and their caregivers, as well as staff, through remote Zoom sessions. Our work also supports older adults across the aging spectrum to discover their own creative resources, while meeting the challenges of aging in senior centers, long-term care and geriatric facilities. Notably, we host an annual Training Institute for Artists and Administrators in Arts-In-Healthcare and Creative Aging funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.
