NYC is facing a dangerous heat wave this week, with temperatures expected to exceed 100º.

Forecasted high temperatures:

• Wednesday, July 1: 95°F (feels like 100°F)
• Thursday, July 2: 103°F (feels like 105–110°F)
• Friday, July 3: 102°F (feels like 104–109°F)
• Saturday, July 4: 98°F (feels like 102°F)

We urge all our neighbors to prepare for the extreme heat, and during this period we are opening 3 of our locations in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn as Cooling Centers to help beat the heat. Find additional NYC cooling centers using this tool.

• Stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day.
• Limit time outdoors whenever possible, especially during the hottest hours of the afternoon.
• Dress in lightweight, light-colored clothing. 
• Monitor yourself and others for signs of heat-related illness, including dizziness, headache, nausea, fatigue, excessive sweating, or confusion.
• Check in on vulnerable individuals, including older adults, young children, and anyone with underlying health conditions.
• Take frequent breaks if you must be outdoors
