in-version ensemble is a performance collective founded by a shared mission to redefine center and periphery. We amplify female, queer, and AAPI narratives through ensemble-based works rooted in collaboration, research, and audience interaction. 

 Our performances explore intersections of memory, identity, and diaspora. From “Fish in the Tank” (Hollywood Fringe & PrideFest, 2025), a queer coming-of-age piece interrogating the complex interplay between individuals and institutions, to “Vanishing 2.0” (The Tank, 2025), a communal performance where over 100 audience members shared dumplings, tomato egg soup, and their family stories, each work transforms theatrical space into a site of gathering and care. “ChuanFest 2026”, in-version’s largest initiative to date and the first AAPI Contemporary Performance festival in NYC, will open on July 9th and run four days across two venues.

王界茹 Jieru Wang | performance maker (she/they)
Jieru was born in Beijing, China. Few different things she tackles through: the fantasies and absurdity in mundane life, the forced unspoken, ignored reality. As an interdisciplinary artist, she blends puppetry, documentary, media art, clowning, animation and movements through collaborative research and ensemble based process. Recipient of Big Art Group Interdisciplinary Artist Award in 2026

Jane Jian Su | video/performance artist (she/her)
Jane is an artist-curator for contemporary performance and video designer for theater. Jane has co-created “Vanishing 1.0” (recipient of the Edinburgh Fringe Scotland Asian Arts Award), “Vanishing 2.0”, and “Two for One” (The Tank, NYC), and most recently, her solo performance “Study of Skin” (ChuanFest, WCMA0). Her work has been developed internationally, including a 2024 residency at Apartment Project Berlin. She is a two-time recipient of the Berkshires Art Association Fellowship. Cerulean Chen Long⻰宸 | writer-director (she/they)
Cerulean is a theater writer and director who aims to challenge, transform, and heal. As a queer artist from China, they seek grammar and form to hold multiple truths. A graduate of UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television with an emphasis in Playwriting and Directing, their work has been presented at various festivals and venues in the U.S. and globally. Recent credits include “Before it Hurts” (ChuanFest), “Fish in the Tank” (Hollywood Fringe, Spirit of the Fest Award nominee), “Vanishing” (Edinburgh Fringe, Asian Arts Award Scotland nominee), “Two for One” (The Tank NYC), “mockingbird” (Nimoy Theater).  

Ruby Yiqi Wang | writer-photographer (any)
Ruby is a researcher, writer, and theater administrator. Their work examines power, desire, and the conditions of gendered life through a phenomenological lens. As an international artist-scholar, Ruby strives to use theatrical and academic expression to challenge received frameworks and hold space for ambiguity. Recipient of the 31st ISSG Queer Studies Award
