All people grow and thrive with the help of safe, nurturing, and predictable relationships. For young children, relationships with parents and primary caregivers form the basis for future learning, development, and social-emotional well-being. Butterflies, our early childhood mental health program, engages children under 5 along with their parents and caregivers as they build and maintain healthy relationships, learn to respond with love and kindness, and acquire skills needed to effectively support child development and well-being.

Butterflies services include dyadic (parent-child) treatment and play therapy for children. We also provide parent consultation and workshops related to the social-emotional development of children 0-5.

Program services are Medicaid-eligible or free, and available in Spanish, Mandarin, and English. Treatment approaches include Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) and child-centered play therapy. All services are trauma-informed and culturally responsive.

Programs are located at our Early Childhood Centers:
Children’s Corner, in East New York/Brooklyn at 565 Livonia Avenue, and on the Lower East Side, the Early Childhood Center at 184 Eldridge Street
