In our expensive city, it can be hard to find places to gather – which is one important reason why University Settlement makes many of our high-quality, flexible, convenient spaces available for rental at affordable prices. Creating space where groups and businesses of all kinds can hold meetings and events is an important way we help build community strength.
Plus – when you book space with us, you’re supporting University Settlement programs, so you are also contributing to your community!
Our headquarters at 184 Eldridge Street includes the historic Speyer Hall theater and a gymnasium – we have the perfect space for you.
Thanks to a generous rehearsal space grant from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), The Performance Project at University Settlement is pleased to offer subsidized rehearsal space to performing artists. Please email spacerental@universitysettlement.org for further information and to reserve space.

SPEYER HALL
A Lower East Side gem located within our landmark headquarters at 184 Eldridge Street, on the corner of Rivington, our white box theater is ideal for arts events, fundraisers & conferences.
GYMNASIUM AT 184
A full-sized (non-regulation) basketball court on the top floor of our Eldridge Street headquarters. Perfect for basketball games, dance rehearsals, and for those who require a low-cost event space.
HOUSTON STREET CENTER
Conveniently located on the corner of Houston & Bowery, a unique space featuring state-of-the-art exercise facilities and plenty of modern flexible classrooms.
