Hello from Families Thriving!

Families Thriving is a growing community of families and their allies. We're brand new at University Settlement!

We help your child(ren) become more successful by working collaboratively with you and community partners. Families Thriving takes a holistic approach to reaching more peace at home by identifying and addressing obstacles preventing you from reaching your greatest potential.

Families Thriving aims to remind caregivers of their own power while offering support and tools at the same time.

Our services are offered FREE of charge. Youth who reside in or attend school in the Lower East Side (North to 14th Street, East to the East River, South to Canal St, West to Bowery/3rd Ave) are eligible for this program. Services are available in English, Spanish, Cantonese, and Taishanese.

Why We're Effective

We use an internationally-acclaimed model called Triple P (Positive Parenting Program). We're the first organization to bring Triple P to New York state.

Triple P is an evidence-based model, which means it's scientific – it's proven to help. In fact, Triple P has 30 years of research behind it and has worked for families in 25 countries around the world.

With Triple P we:

  • help caregivers raise confident, healthy children and build strong family relationships
  • treat caregivers as the experts of their own child(ren) and families
  • teach caregivers tools to manage misbehavior and prevent problems in the first place

What We Offer to Families

Each caregiver is assigned a Family Ally who comes to you! Our highly trained staff work with families in their homes and community. Our individualized services are family-driven; they are based on the level of need and interest.

Here's what that can look like for your family:

  • Weekly in-home, individual Triple P sessions
  • Triple P Groups, parent support groups, community events, and workshops
  • Consultations for challenging behavior
  • Advocacy, community organizing, and participation in team meetings

What We Offer to Professionals

Families Thriving takes a multi-level approach, so we also offer opportunities for community partners. United in the shared goal of strengthening youth and families, we understand there's power in collaboration.

Here's what that can look like for your team, school, or organization:

  • Consultations, needs assessments, and assistance embedding new strategies into your work
  • Staff trainings and professional development opportunities (topics include but are not limited to: engaging families, behavioral management, social-emotional learning, trauma-informed and attachment-sensitive approaches, mental health, etc.)

Let's chat! We'd love to hear from you!
