Our multilingual staff provides fitness programs to get people of all ages healthy, including:

  • STRIDE, a free SONYC after-school and summer school program for kids in grades 6 through 8, featuring fitness, tutoring, arts courses, field trips and more

After-school and summer camp programs are an essential resource for many working families – and the Houston Street Center knows that your child needs to be engaged and challenged in order to grow. STRIDE provides excitement and learning through after-school and summer camp programs for kids and young adults in middle school and high school. We want to teach our STRIDE kids to think critically, exercise independent decision-making and develop healthy social interactions with their peers. STRIDE's holistic and comprehensive approach offers the right balance of academics, arts and leadership, sports and recreation.

Our SONYC middle-school program is currently recruiting for fall! That's free, top-notch after-school, five days a week, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. To learn more, come to one of our orientation sessions on Tuesdays in September, 6 to 8 p.m.

What can your children get from STRIDE? We provide top-notch academic support, from tutoring to Regents preparation; fitness programming to keep them healthy, including basketball, volleyball and swimming; and creative arts courses to spark their inspiration, including theatre, dance and photography. We also provide leadership-building activities and field trips – an excellent way to provide new opportunities.
