Even the youngest children need help coping with life changes and stressful situations. The Butterflies Program helps children under the age of 5 and their families develop the tools they need to communicate and work through challenges.

Since its inception in 2006, Butterflies has provided innovative services in diverse communities throughout New York City to directly meet the social-emotional needs of over 2,000 young children and their families.

Services include individual, dyadic and group play therapy, as well as workshops for parents, educators and community members on a variety of topics including:

  • attachment and bonding
  • how to play with your child
  • child-parent psychotherapy
  • positive discipline, stress management
  • the impact of trauma in the classroom
  • and many others

The Butterflies Program services are free and available in English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Spanish.

The Butterflies Program is funded by the New York City Council, the Tiger Foundation, and the Child Welfare Fund.
