Adult Literacy Students Make the Call!

Feb 19, 2013 | | categories: Advocacy , Programs

At University Settlement we know that in order to have an effective literacy program, you need to provide more than just English language skills - you must impart the tools needed to build a solid foundation for success.

Every year hundreds of immigrant adults come to US to acquire the English language and technology skills needed to gain employment, further their education, understand and exercise legal rights and responsibilities, attain U.S. citizenship and otherwise participate in their communities.

Today we get to see our Adult Literacy students in action, making calls to City Council to advocate for After-school and Childcare programs. Take a look at this video they put together for YOU, which explains the simple steps you can take to become an advocate for vital family services. Then be sure to check out our advocacy page to find out what else you can do to stand with US!
