LISTEN TO ME

The world renowned theater artists of Ping Chong + Company are collaborating with two New York settlement houses to raise awareness about child sexual abuse. Join US for the Manhattan premiere of LISTEN TO ME: stories of child sexual abuse survivors and those who help them. Therapists from the Bronx's Kingsbridge Heights Community Center share their own stories, and give voice to the experiences of child survivors who have gone through their child sexual abuse prevention and treatment program.

The production written by Jesca Prudencio and Irene Ninonuevo is part of Secret Survivors, an ongoing series of community-specific oral history theater works known as the Undesirable Elements series. Each production is made in a specific community, with local participants testifying to their real lives and experiences. The script is based on interviews with the participants who then share their stories in the final production. Since 1992, over 40 productions have been made across the U.S. and abroad.
