Our Project Home Court Navigators Program was recently featured in the Wall Street Journal. The program, which is operated jointly with several other nonprofits at the housing court in Brooklyn, provides guidance to people who don't have an attorney. Unlike criminal court, housing court - and other civil courts - don't provide attorneys to those who can't afford one. This puts tenants at a severe disadvantage when it comes to staying in their homes, especially since the majority of landlords and property managers have representation.
