University Settlement's Ingersoll Community Center staff recently made headlines as they brought the community together to celebrate Halloween. Their efforts were especially critical given the current climate in the neighborhood, where gang violence has made a resurgence this fall. Senior Program Director for Youth and Community Programs Tameeka Ford helped organize the event, an evening that promised tons of fun in a safe, positive environment. The event was also attended by New York City Council Member Laurie Cumbo, who called Ingersoll "a safe haven for positive reinforcement to combat negative influences" on youth of all ages in the area. continue
