On March 18, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced 14 projects that would receive funding from the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation to enhance the cultural, recreational, and education opportunities in the region and improve the quality of life for residents in Lower Manhattan. Among the selected projects are renovations to our Houston Street Center and to our Eldridge Street headquarters.
We'll be receiving more than $1 million to undergo facility improvements to both sites, including greater security systems, upgrading the wi-fi to provide free access to program participants, updated lighting, integration of projectors to facilitate enhanced instruction, elevator extensions, and more.
Read the full grant announcement on Governor Cuomo's website now, and be sure to check out a piece in the New York Times about a few of the projects selected.
In the upcoming months, we look forward to unveiling some of these important changes that will help our programs run with greater efficiency and security, improving access for the community members we support.
