Meal Deliverer PART TIME

Supervisor: Program Director

Overview: University Settlement is one of New York City's most dynamic social justice institutions, with an impressive legacy as the first settlement house in the nation. For 130 years, University Settlement has been an anchor in the low-income and immigrant communities where we work, offering pioneering programs in early childhood care and education, youth development, eviction prevention, literacy, theater and visual arts, senior services, and mental health. Each year, we engage over 40,000 New Yorkers through our network of 31 sites in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Our mission is to empower the individuals we serve through comprehensive, quality services that strengthen families and meet the current needs of the community.


  • Pick up meals at designated site and transfer them to vehicle
  • Ensure safe and proper temperatures for all food items
  • Drive and deliver meals to homebound elderly clients within directed timeframes
  • Collect contributions from clients and deliver to Program Director and return receipts to clients
  • Communicate with program staff via cell phone when necessary
  • Maintain written route sheets and vehicle log on a daily basis
  • Call 911 in event of client medical emergency and contact program staff
  • Check in at end of route with supervisor daily, park and secure vehicle
  • Wash and sanitize meal bags and vehicle when needed
  • Other duties as assigned by Director


  • Valid Driver's License 
  • Must have clean driving record with no violations 
  • Ability to do heavy lifting 75lbs or more
  • Must be able to stretch, bend, walk up flights of stairs
  • Good physical health
  • Should be able to read, write and speak some English
  • High school diploma or HSE
  • Must be a team player and interact well with other staff

Hours: up to 17 hours per week
