Assistant Teacher

Park Slope North Child Development Center is in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn serving children from ages 2 to 5 years old. The center serves children from a diverse population of families. It is the ongoing mission of the Park Slope North Child Development Center to support children's development by appreciating individual differences, by helping them to live, learn and work cooperatively and by promoting their self-esteem as members of their families as well as our child care community. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive path to quality of knowledge, with safe, nurturing, educationally and culturally sensitive childcare.


What You Will Be Doing:

  • Support the Teacher plan and complete assignments in support of daily classroom program and activities, writing the daily and weekly lesson plans
  • Maintain classroom supplies and equipment and assist with ordering supplies and materials
  • Recruit parent volunteers and provide support to volunteers working in the classroom
  • Assist in writing required reports and completing various forms
  • Assist Head Teacher entering written observations, work samples, and photos into online database system
  • Assist with arranging field trips, home visits, and in ordering supplies and materials.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and in training and development sessions

We Are Looking For:

  • You have an Associate's Degree; certified Teacher Assistant or CDA
  • You have experience working with children.
  • You are Bilingual in English / Spanish.
