Social Worker

University Settlement's Families Thriving program offers support and resources for helping families unlock their own power and remove barriers to having more peace at home. We do this by creating lasting impact on multiple levels with an equity lens, quality assurance and a strengths-based approach. In collaboration with community partners, the program offers home and community-based services and evidence-based models, to families in the Lower East Side with children/youth aged 5-21. As the Social Worker, you will provide weekly individualized and/or group services to youth and their families.


You will also: 

  •  Conduct comprehensive, trauma-informed culturally sensitive assessments to participants to assess strengths and needs
  •  Develop individualized service plans and facilitate service delivery
  •  Maintain complete case management records, data collection, and documentation in EHR
  •  Provide crisis intervention, prevention and resolution
  •  Develop and facilitate workshops, presentations, community partnerships and trainings in the community
  •  Become trained in and execute evidence-based models
  •  Willingness to be an advocate for your program, participants and community
  •  You have a strong commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion

What we are looking for:

  •  You have a LMSW and 1+ year experience working with families and youth
  •  You have a firm understanding of strength-based work, child and youth development, attachment, trauma, and family dynamics
  •  You can engage hard-to-reach populations as well as families and youth impacted by trauma, poverty, complex stressors, violence, mental health, etc.
  •  Experience providing community and home-based services from a culturally competent and trauma-informed approach
  •  A plus if you are bilingual in English/Spanish, English/Cantonese or English/Mandarin
  •  You know that communication is key.
  •  You are organized and passionate about accuracy.
  •  You meet deadlines on time, all the time.
  •  You are comfortable traveling to and working in families' homes and communities.
