Educational Specialist

As the first settlement house in the nation and for over 130 years, University Settlement has been empowering New York residents by building on their strengths through comprehensive, quality services that meet the current needs of the community; innovation that anticipates future needs; and advocacy to improve the community as a whole. 

Early Head Start and Family Child Care services in a single program that offers full-day home-based childcare services, family support services and advocacy to low income families with children under four years of age.  The program provides developmentally appropriate home-based child-care, and home visits to families and family childcare providers.


What You Will Be Doing:

  • You will implement the appropriate curriculum in home-based Family Child Care programs
  • You will provide enhanced home visits to Family Child Care Providers serving Early Head Start children
  • You will provide on-site training to Family Child Care Providers addressing all areas of child development and education and for them to complete developmental assessments.
  • Update and maintain child observations in Teaching Strategies Gold
  • Assist in the recruitment of families for the program
  • Assist childcare providers with technical support
  • Assist during the Parent Council meetings and other parent workshops
  • Maintain proper documentation on visits and families and children

What We Are Looking For:

  • You have a BA in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field.
  • You have 1+ years of experience in early childhood education child development birth to three years old.
  • You have strong writing and communication skills.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Hours:  35 hours per week                           


Salary: Low to Mid 40s
