Activity Specialist- Softball

Supervisor: Site Manager

University Settlement has been providing a variety of effective and strengths-based community-based programs for children grades 6-12. The Activity Specialist will be responsible for facilitating workshops while ensuring the safety and engagement of children. The program will provide academic support; artistic, athletic, cultural, and athletic enrichment; therapeutic services; and opportunities for family involvement.


  • Work with a group of 20-22 middle school girls (grades 6th- 8th)
  • Increase the softball skills via drills, clinics, exercise routines etc.
  • Schedule games and set up in house tournaments and maintain positive working relationships with outside liaisons and other school coaches
  • Create a positive environment for young people to develop social skills via the formation of cohesive teamwork and maintaining an open dialogue surrounding issues that impact them on a daily basis
  • Other duties assigned by the supervisor


  • Previous experience coaching young people
  • Experience playing on an organized softball team
  • Must be available to work 3-5 days a week during after school hours
  • Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Highly self-motivated and energetic
  • Must have knowledge of "Youth Development" principles (maintain continuity and consistency, high expectations, focus on the young person strengths, role model positive behavior, involve youth in planning)
  • Attend planning, supervisor, and evaluation sessions

Hours: 8 hours per week

Salary: $20.50 per hour
