Activity Specialist - Soccer Coach

University Settlement has been providing a variety of effective and strengths-based community based programs for children grades 6-12. The Soccer Coach (Activity Specialist) will be responsible for facilitating workshops while ensuring the safety and engagement of children. The program will provide academic support; artistic, athletic, cultural, and athletic enrichment; therapeutic services; and opportunities for family involvement.


 Responsibilities:

  • Activity Specialist will work with groups of 20-25 middle school students
  • Teach students a wide range of skills pertaining to soccer mastery
  • Provide opportunities for growth in understanding of sportsmanship and  soccer skill development
  • Create an environment of active and genuine learning by employing a range of  coaching strategies that meet the needs of all students
  • Write and revise lesson plans using DYCD framework for approval by director
  • Monitor and report on students' progress throughout the term of the activity
  • Work with Director in creating game schedules
  • In conjunction with Sports Director, monitor students' grades and eligibility to play
  • Chaperone and supervise students  at all games

 Qualifications:

  • Previous experience coaching soccer
  • High School Diploma or HSE required
  • Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Attend planning, supervision, and evaluation sessions
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be over 18 years old
  • Highly energetic, dynamic, and positive
  • CPR and First Aid Certified preferred

Hours: 4 hours per week; Monday to Thursday, 2:30-3:30PM

Salary: $20.50 per hour
