Family Enrichment Program

Families with young children in Brooklyn have access to our Family Enrichment Program (FEP), which provides a range of activities for families and their children to connect and bond. FEP provides families with children under the age of five in Fort Greene (and surrounding areas) with creative ways to spend time together in a safe and playful place. Families will get to enjoy a variety of parent/child activities, as well as opportunities to meet others in their neighborhood!

Based at the Ingersoll Community Center, our talented staff provide family support services free of charge to the families in the Fort Greene, Brooklyn area. We provide resources and information about child care, school, after-school, parenting and play, as well as activities at our two community centers so that parents can ensure their child has the strong, healthy foundation they need for a successful future.

FEP also includes The Parent-Child Home Program (for families with children ages 2-4), a national model home visiting program that has been proved to improve school readiness and strengthen family relationships. The Parent-Child Home Program includes school preparation, fun activities, and a new book or toy each week! We'll also help parents find additional resources they may be eligible for, like vouchers, subsidies, childcare, development evaluations and more.

In addition to our direct home services, we offer several engaging activities at our centers on a regular basis:

  • Sing with Me – Family music making activities for children ages 4 months to 4 years and their parent(s).

  • Parent's Corner – These groups provide a safe space for parents of children ages 0-5 to give and receive support, share strategies, and get ideas. Food and childcare provided.

  • Explore with Me – In this creative movement and arts class, you and your child will create a work of art to take home.

We also offer one-time events based on the interests and needs of parents, including field trips, local school information sessions, parties, an annual summer picnic and more. Check out our Events page to see all upcoming University Settlement events, or contact us to suggest future events

All of our services in the Family Enrichment Program are provided free of charge; home visits and individual support is provided in both English and Spanish. Group events at the community centers are currently conducted in English only.
