Trainings and Workshops

PLAY TANK is committed to share its learning and practice with fellow artists, youth workers and educators. Our goal is to contribute to the growth of meaningful and creative community-based programming in New York City. Our team of PLAY TANKERS and mentors are currently developing a diverse menu of trainings that will launch in June 2013. We are also interested in working collaboratively with organizations or groups to develop tailor-made programs focused on their needs.

Playing with PLAY TANK

A series of four 3-hour practical workshops aimed at artists, community & youth workers, and educators working with children, young people and adults. Each workshop focuses on a specific activity to be developed within participants' settings; including creating a poem as a group, drama and fun games, storytelling, and more. Maximum number of participants: 15

Introducing drama to children and young people

A 4-hour workshop aimed at youth workers and educators working with elementary and middle school students. Participants will gain knowledge and understanding of what is "drama" and how drama can support youth development. Participants will also learn to utilize everyday resources to provide props, scenes and characters as well as how to plan and deliver a workshop. Maximum number of participants: 15

How to start up

A 6-hour workshop aimed at anyone interested in starting up an arts 'business'. Participants will gain knowledge on legal and financial structures, and develop an understanding of the organizational and practical tools necessary to operate. Participants will also have the opportunity to share their ideas with the group, gain feedback and start putting together a business plan. Maximum number of participants: 10
