On September 6th Project Home Director Jennifer Vallone and community resident Moraima Nunez testified before New York State lawmakers, offering University Settlement's strong endorsement of an increase to the public assistance benefits level. The basic grant level has not been increased since 1990, and families on welfare are now living at 50% of the federal poverty level.
