On April 19th about 30 students from University Settlement’s Adult Literary program participated in a Coalition for Adult Literacy sponsored rally to draw attention to the inadequacy of funding for adult literacy/ESOL classes in New York City and press for additional funding. Joining with their peers from around the City, the students spoke with local leaders, NYC Council member Kendall Stewart and State Assembly memeber Cathy Nolan of Long Island, who sits on the NYS Assembly's Education Committee, about why ESOL/Adult Literacy is critical to the building a vibrant and economically strong city.
