Position:

Licensed Child Psychiatrist

Overview

In a newly created, collaborative program with University Settlement and PS 636 (280 Hart Street Brooklyn, NY), the Licensed Child Psychiatrist will provide services to elementary school students (grades k through 5th) and their families.  He / she will collaborate with two school-based social workers and coordinators of the after-school enrichment program where psychosocial services and crisis intervention may be required.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments
• Provide consultation and education to mental health staff
• Attend case conferences as needed
• Recommend treatment plans for patients in accordance with NYS Office of Mental Health requirements
• Monitor medication management for patients
• Ensure necessary medical labs and follow up



Qualifications:

• Medical degree from an accredited medical school
• Current license to practice medicine in the State of New York
• Board Eligibility
• Experience working with children and adolescents
• Willingness to work as an integrated member of an interdisciplinary team
• Must be able to conduct sessions in Spanish

Salary:

Commensurate with experience

Hours:

5 hours per week (flexible)
