Healthy Families Program Director (Program Manager)

Position Description:

Through the NYS Office of Children & Family Services, University Settlement has received funding to implement a Healthy Families Program in the 10009 and 10035 zip codes. Through home-based visiting, University Settlement will strengthen parents’ skills and parent-child relationships primarily through intensive individualized home visits that start during pregnancy. Our aim is to decrease parental stress, increase self confidence and parenting skills in order to stabilize the family and integrate a healthy focus on child development within family life. The Program Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the program and is involved in program planning, budgeting, staffing, training, data management, program evaluation, facilitating on-going relationships with local and state partners, public relations and office management.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide supervision to a staff of 7 of various background and experience.
  • Wide-ranging outreach within the Settlement, and among various early childhood programs and community partners working with this population is key. Extensive travel throughout Manhattan via public transportation required.
  • Ensure the quality and efficacy of the program through the use of program measures.
  • Coordinate and facilitate staff trainings as necessary in fulfillment of OCFS and HFA standards.
  • Oversee the data management system, and the ability to identify trends and provide analysis.
  • Maintain reports, administrative and clinical records in accordance with OCFS and HFA standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings, case conferences, training seminars and individual supervisory meetings.
  • Position calls for flexibility to travel out of town for conferences and meetings, some requiring overnight stays.
  • Other duties as assigned by the director.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required with 3-5 years social/human services field. Master’s degree in human services preferred (social work, psychology, sociology, family counseling, early childhood, nursing, etc).
  • Experience in home visitation with a strong background in primary prevention services to pregnant mothers and the 0-3 population.
  • At least 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Experience of innovative treatment strategies in the areas of strengths-based, family centered provisions of service.
  • At least 3 years experience working in preventive services, home visiting and/or early childhood development settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in service development, administration and implementation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of child abuse & neglect identification and reporting.
  • Ability to provide services to culturally diverse communities and families.
  • Familiarity with data management systems. Must be PC literate.
  • Capacity to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Chinese preferred.
Hours:

Full time, 35 hrs /week
