Position:
Classroom and Special Needs Coordinator
Overview:
The Early Head Start and Head Start Program provides comprehensive child and family development services through home visits, center-based classrooms and case management. The program provides family support services and advocacy to low-income pregnant women and families with children birth to five.
Responsibilities:
- Lead classroom sessions for infants/toddlers and provide supervision to classroom staff
- Participate in the development and implementation of the Creative Curriculum in classrooms
- Administer developmental assessments for children and provide written reports to staff with anticipatory guidance and follow-up plan
- Develop goals for children in the classroom based on developmental assessments
- Maintain written observation of the children’s experience in the classroom
- Track and coordinate services for children identified with special needs
- Maintain proper documentation on program activities
- Assist in the development and implementation of staff development training and supervision
- Ensure program compliance with Head Start Performance Standards regulations
- Assist in planning and evaluation of all program components with input from staff, parents, and community partners
- Other duties as requested by supervisor
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and NYS Certification in Early Childhood Education required
- Two – three years experience working with toddlers and preschoolers in a classroom setting
- Must have at least one - two years of experience supervising classroom staff
- Must have good organization, communication and writing skills
- Ability to write and speak Spanish and/or Chinese preferred

Salary:
High 30’s to Low 40’s
