Position:

Social Services Director

Program Description:

The Early Childhood Center provides full day, full year early education and child care services to children 2.9 to 5 years of age. The center consists of eight classrooms with three teaching staff per classroom responsible for the management of the classroom and the implementation of the program’s curriculum which consists of Big Math for Little Kids, the Reading and Writing Workshop and the Integrated Projects. The program provides comprehensive family and advocacy services including mental health services through a collaboration with the agency’s Butterflies Program, ongoing parenting workshops, volunteer opportunities and monthly classroom meeting with parents.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the overall management of the Center’s social service department including eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment and attendance.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Family Workers follow established protocols for enrollment of families in the development of Partnership Agreement with families as stipulated in the HS Performance Standards.
  • Responsible for the oversight of consultants responsible for the monitoring of health, immunization, dental and screening for all enrolled children and to ensure proper follow-up for any identified health concern
  • Responsible for the facilitation of the mental health services and Clinical Team Meetings to ensure the provision of mental health services as per HS Performance Standards
  • Responsible for the direct supervision of Family Workers who are responsible for determining family needs and provide families with the necessary referrals for identified services
  • Responsible for the provision of direct services to families and children as needed
  • Responsible for the identification and development of relationships with community partners to enhanced services to enrolled families and children
  • Ensure ongoing and consistent communication with families by Family Workers
  • Organize staff development training for department staff and collaborate with other management staff in organizing, developing and implementing center-wide staff training opportunities
  • Organize open house, orientation, and workshops for parents and regular group meetings
  • Organize and facilitate case conferences meeting with department staff
  • Conduct home visits as needed
  • Participate in Planning Team, Management Team and other meetings as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling, or related field OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree in S.W. or related field and currently enrolled in a Graduate degree program.
  • At least 2 years experience in human services or related field
  • At least 2 years supervisory experience
  • Must have excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft excel, access and word
  • Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Chinese preferred
