Position:
Database Project Manager
Overview:
University Settlement has contracted with a vendor to provide an agency-wide data management software system that will allow the organization to collect individual client data, link programs, track client referrals, gather cross-program data and facilitate better program outcomes. University Settlement is seeking a full-time Project Manager to work hand-in-hand with the vendor to oversee and implement this new data system.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the agency-wide implementation of a dot.net based client tracking data system, overseeing all aspects of vendor and program relations
- Build strong relationships with University Settlement program staff and managers
- Prepare and support program staff for the system transition, which will significantly alter programs’ day-to-day operations
- Work with vendor to map and “clean” all existing program data, and uniformly format it so it can be converted easily to the new data system
- Support and supervise programs to layout their operational procedures and business rules, and when necessary, integrate quality improvements to streamline practices
- Work with the programs and vendor to design layout of screens in the software system (e.g determine which fields should be used, which fields are required, in what order they should appear, etc.)
- Help train program staff on the proper use and navigation of the data system and build in-program data system knowledge and capacity.
- Oversee resources and expenditures and monitor and consultant time to ensure the work stays within budget
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
- Ability to independently design and manage projects, and to schedule and maintain deadlines
- Excellent people skills, including ability to manage staff, management and vendor relationships
- Commitment and interest in the nonprofit sector
- Some knowledge and/or experience with database design, including articulating workflow, program outcomes and business rules
- Knowledge and/or experience with quality assurance desirable
- Experience helping organizations shift from paper documents and record keeping to digital records and enterprise application software desirable
